I am doing genealogy research and running into brick walls, so I am hoping you can help me. My gg-grandfather lived in Wheeling in the 1890's. He worked for the Stephanie (Steheny) Steam Engine Mill in Wheeling. I am hoping to find information on his first wife and five children with limited information. If you can possibly help me, please email me and I can give you more information.
Thank you!

Very much enjoyed touring your museum today. As I mentioned, I'm a big fan of wonderful little museums like this. Here is what I posted about you on my blog.

My fraternal grandparents owned a farm in Wheeling. During the 1950s, my Mother and I visited them almost every Sunday until about the end of the decade. The ritual was boring for a young kid and was made better when cousins, uncles and aunts and family friends also showed up. And it was a real blessing when Jeffrey Lanes opened and gave us kids something else to do. I think my Grandfather's house, which he -- helped by his two surviving sons and my maternal grandfather -- built.

Good morning! My grandfather owned a cafe/bar in Wheeling many years ago, probably in the mid ‘20’s to mid ‘30’s, my best guess. It was called Winklhofer’s Cafe, his last name. We have some of the original bar ware and a Bentwood chair. Would you have any information or pictures on file? Thank you for any help you can provide!

Hello. My family on my father's side lived in Wheeling from the 1920's until 1954. During much of that time, they owned and operated The Apollo restaurant in downtown Wheeling. Can you help me with the former location of the restaurant? Additionally, my father worked at the Rex Theater during high school. Does that building still exist? Thank you in advance.

A relative informed me that my grandfather (deceased) had been the banquet manager at Chevy Chase and was fondly remembered by the Giancana family. Do you have any records of a Frank E Bourget who worked there?
THANK YOU, frank e bourget 928-525-4209 |
